Do tea bags really have magical curing properties for inflamed eyes?

Whilst specialists in complimentary medicine may claim otherwise, I am not aware of any scientific evidence that proves a specific healing property of tea. It is interesting to note that this particular old wives' tail transcends cultures being prevalent among such diverse ethnic Israeli groups ranging from Russian and Moroccan Jews to Palestinian Arabs.

That said, there is no doubt that anything warm and wet is often soothing to many an eye inflammation, and as a tea bag can fit this description and is also about the right size to sit comfortably on the eye lids, it is easy to understand why the idea has gained popularity.
